Commercial Plumbing Repairs

Commercial plumber for Berkshire business premises. Washroom cisterns, urinals, taps, leaks, bursts and stop valves repaired 24/7, price agreed first.

TrueFlow provides commercial plumbing services to business premises across Berkshire and the surrounding towns, including Reading, Slough, Bracknell, Wokingham, Maidenhead and Camberley. The scope is the wet side of a building: toilet and urinal cisterns, flush systems, blocked urinals, taps, leaks, bursts, stop valves, and the water connections to appliances and heaters. Emergencies are attended 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with a 60-minute response target and call-outs from £120 including VAT; planned repairs are booked around trading hours; and the exact price is agreed before any work starts. Gas is outside the service entirely: boilers, gas water heaters and the gas side of any appliance need a Gas Safe registered engineer, and TrueFlow does not provide that work.

What a commercial plumber covers

The fixtures in a shop, office, warehouse or surgery are mostly the same as a house’s, worked far harder and joined by a few that homes never have.

  • Toilet cisterns and flush valves. Drop valves, siphons, fill valves and push-button mechanisms, including concealed cisterns behind duct panels and frame-mounted units in newer fit-outs.
  • Urinal cisterns and flush systems. The automatic cisterns above a urinal run, their siphons and flush controls, and the bowls and waste pipework below.
  • Blocked urinals. Cleared by rodding or jetting, with traps and waste pipework descaled as routine maintenance.
  • Taps and washroom fittings. Mixer, lever and push-top taps, shower valves in staff facilities, and the service valves that let one basin be isolated.
  • Leaks and bursts. Dripping joints, failed flexible hoses and split pipework. If water is escaping now, the first steps are in the burst pipe guide; then call.
  • Stop valves. Seized, missing or buried stop valves replaced, and isolation valves added where one fixture cannot be shut off without closing the whole building.
  • Appliance connections. Supply and waste for commercial dishwashers, glasswashers, washing machines, tea-point boiling-water units, coffee and ice machines, with the isolation and backflow protection expected on commercial equipment.
  • Water heaters, plumbing side only. Cold feeds, isolation valves, hot distribution and discharge pipework serving point-of-use heaters and hot water cylinders.

For a home rather than a business, the domestic plumbing repairs page covers the same trade at household scale.

Emergency cover for trading premises

A burst above a sales floor, a washroom with no usable cubicle, a kitchen with no cold water: each stops a business trading, and each is attended as an emergency. The phone is answered 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, the response target is 60 minutes, and call-outs start from £120 including VAT. On site the first aim is to isolate at the nearest valve rather than at the main, so the rest of the building keeps its water while the repair is made. The same engineers run the domestic emergency plumbing service. All work carries a 6-month guarantee, TrueFlow is fully insured, and the published price list applies to one-off commercial work as it does to households.

Working outside trading hours

Most plumbing repairs on a trading site are better done when it is not trading. Planned repairs go into the hours the premises is empty, whichever those are, with access details and a keyholder’s contact taken at booking so the engineer is not left at a locked door.

Washroom checks on a maintenance contract

Washrooms are where commercial plumbing fails most visibly, and most failures give notice first: a fill valve that hisses for a minute after every flush, a urinal draining a little slower each week. A drainage maintenance contract can carry a washroom check alongside the scheduled jetting: the engineer operates every flush, checks fill valves for water passing into the pan, descales urinal traps and waste pipework, and notes any tap or valve on its way out, all recorded in the visit report. The check sits inside the planned regime on the offices and facilities management page; the contract page sets out how the price is built.

How a job runs on a business account

A business job starts with a name. Whoever can authorise the spend is identified on the first call, even when that is a head office in another county, and the exact price is agreed with that person before an engineer is dispatched. On arrival the engineer works with whoever holds the keys, but nothing is added to the job without going back to the authorising contact. The account contact receives a short note after each visit: the fault, the parts fitted, and what to budget to replace next.

Commercial plumbing FAQs

What is the difference between a commercial and a domestic plumber?

The trade is the same; the setting changes the job. A commercial plumber works on fixtures homes rarely have, such as urinals, auto-flush cisterns and commercial dishwashers, on supply pipework sized for a whole building, and to a timetable set by trading hours and authorisation rules rather than by whoever happens to be in. TrueFlow’s engineers cover both, with the same 6-month guarantee.

Is there a call-out fee for business premises?

For an emergency attendance, yes: call-outs start from £120 including VAT, and that figure, with the price of the repair where it can be assessed over the phone, is confirmed with the person authorising the job before the engineer is sent out. For a planned repair, the exact price is quoted and agreed before the visit is booked.

Can one washroom be isolated without shutting off the whole building?

Usually, and where it cannot, that is the first thing worth fixing. A service valve on each basin and cistern, and an isolation valve on the branch feeding a washroom, let one fixture or one room be shut off while every other tap in the building keeps running. Older fit-outs often have nothing between the main stop valve and the fixtures, so a dripping tap means turning off the whole premises; adding isolation valves is a short planned job that turns the next leak into a local inconvenience.

Why does a commercial toilet or urinal keep running or blocking?

Running water is nearly always a parts fault: a fill valve that no longer shuts off, or a flush valve seal that has hardened or picked up grit, so water passes continuously into the pan. Both wear faster in hard water, and replacing the valve fixes it. A urinal blocks on scale in the trap and first stretch of waste, so scheduled descaling is the cure rather than another clearance; toilets block on whatever is flushed into a shared branch, and are cleared by rodding or jetting.

Who fixes plumbing in a rented commercial unit?

The lease decides: usually the tenant for fixtures inside the unit, the landlord or managing agent for shared supply and stacks. TrueFlow works for whichever party instructs the job, agrees the price with that party and addresses the visit note to them.
